| Once the water-bearing formation
is found, the driller and helper can move to the next stage. This stage
consists of setting the slotted screen and casing down the drill hole.
This is the well, and is made of joined and sealed pieces of casing that
form a contiguous well that terminates with the screen in the water
bearing formation. Our high powered compressor then develops the well by
"blowing" the drill mud and other debris out of the well which allows the
water to flow freely through the screen and into the well casing.
Oftentimes, the amount of clean water flowing from the top of the casing
gives the drillers a good idea as to the gallon-per-minute production of
the water well. Once the well appears clean, the drillers clean-up and
move on to the next drilling site. The whole drilling and developing stage
usually takes 1-2 days total.
